First candidate for the Rector’ Office

Professor Andrzej Sokala from the Faculty of Law and Administration officially announced his candidacy in the election of the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University for the term of office 2020-2024.

The Rector will be elected in mid-March next year. Who will manage the university will be decided by the College of Electors. Prof. Sokala is the first person to announce his candidacy.

During the meeting at the Faculty of Law and Administration, Andrzej Sokala drew attention to the need for harmonious development of the entire university, especially during the period in which the project of the research university will be implemented. “We have to take care of the everyday affairs of the University, vital to its employees, doctoral students and students, and make all members of our community feel valued and important. As Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Staff Management, I am well aware of the problems of our community,” he said.

Professor Sokala also presented the names of three out of five candidates for the positions of Vice-Rectors. These are: Prof. Wojciech Wysota from the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management, candidate for the position of Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Włodzimierz Jaskólski from the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Informatics, candidate for the position of Vice-Rector for Business and International Cooperation, and Prof. Przemysław Nehring from the Faculty of Humanities, candidate for the position of Vice-Rector for Education.
